CAE Program Assistant

CAE seeks a committed, organized, team player with a collaborative work style. The position requires exceptional organizational, writing and computer skills with a command of Microsoft Office applications. Experience in arts, education, and/or arts education preferred.

The assistant will report to the School Arts Support Initiative (SASI) Project Director and will assist the Project Director and the Director of Teaching and Learning in administrative tasks pertaining to this program which is in place in ten New York City middle schools. Essential job functions include:
  • Preparation of and maintenance of records project data, program budgets, expense reports, program (paper and electronic) files, reference materials
  • Preparation and dissemination of project-related correspondence in consultation with Project Director including telephone and written communication with project participants: school arts liaisons, SASI coaches, evaluation team members, arts partners and CAE staff;
  • Assistance with preparation of reports, proposals, surveys, etc.;
  • Coordination of SASI meetings: convening logistics and scheduling, preparation of all meeting materials, and provision of on-site support as needed
  • Occasional administrative support to Executive Director and/or Director of Teaching and Learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Skilled in Word, Excel and Publisher software as well as other office technology
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage time efficiently
  • Interest and some experience in the arts and in education
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Individual Giving Officer

Job Description: The Individual Giving Officer is a part-time (25-30 hr/wk) employee of The Center for Arts Education reporting to the Director of Development. This position will be responsible for the launch of an individual giving program to expand the roster of new donors through direct mail, email and social media, renew and increase gifts from current and lapsed donors, help to create a stewardship program for donors, including board members, and assist in the planning and management of cultivation and fundraising events.

The goal for CAE’s upcoming fiscal year is to implement a series of strategic efforts to build CAE’s base of individual support. This past year the organization, working with a consultant, developed a plan for individual giving. The Development Officer in partnership with the development team will begin implementation of that plan.


Duties and Responsibilities: Working closely with the Director of Development, the development team and the development committee, the Development Officer will:

  • Plan and administer individual giving initiatives, from conception of strategies through implementation and assessment that will effectively identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of annual fund and major gift prospects. Significantly grow all sectors of individual donors.
  • Identify and research major giving prospects; prepare - with assistance from the development staff - donor and prospect biographical profiles, devise individually tailored major gift strategies and solicitation meetings.
  • Work in partnership with the DOD, senior staff and Board members to cultivate and steward these prospects/donors
  • Grow and manage an upper-level donor group giving $1,500+ annually. Create and implement cultivation and stewarding activities including a series of small events, lectures, dinners, etc. Develop materials, prospecting strategies and initiatives to significantly expand this essential donor group.
  • Set annual goals with the Director of Development and monitor progress toward projected goals, providing regular assessment/analysis. Prepare reports for the development committee and Board.
  • Work with the development team to track and monitor individual gifts via Raiser’s Edge, as well as oversee a formal and timely acknowledgement process
  • Maintain effective communications with individual donors and prospects, including regular appeals, proposals, updates, reports, other ancillary materials and site visits.
  • Participate in planning and management of cultivation and other events.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Five plus years development experience with a focus on individual giving
  • Interest in arts education and the mission of CAE.
  • Effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional writing skills, meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong computer and word processing ability.
  • Proven experience cultivating and stewarding major donors
  • Mastery of Raisers’ Edge preferred.
  • Knowledge of social media preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
