CDP SUCCESS STORIES Didier Garcia graduated from Queens College in 2004 where he was a Media Studies Major and Business Minor. Didier started his own company entitled PIXELION which focuses on Graphic Designs. Didier’s designs included Logos for the Montel Williams MS Foundation and The Harlem Club. His work can be viewed at www.pixelion.com. Darnide Cayo graduated from Baruch College with a Business Communication Major and French Minor. Among Darnide’s achievements she was the Co-founder of a Non-Profit Organization called “ARTISTS VILLAGE” INC. Darnide will be working at MTV Networks starting in September. Maria Luisa Tamara is currently attending Fashion Institute of Technology. She continues to work at Materials for the Arts which was the internship she attained through the Career Development Program in Fall 2005. Maria is also working for Parks and Recreation. Edward R. Weiner Arts ScholarshipThe Edward R. Wiener Arts Scholarship at The Center for Arts Education will recognize five outstanding graduating seniors in New York City public schools who have successfully completed the Career Development Program and are interested in pursuing an arts or arts-related career. The scholarship will award each student up to $3000 in funds to put towards post-secondary education, which may include two- or four-year colleges or universities, conservatories, institutes or intensive study with an arts organization. It was established in 1991 by Arline Vogel in honor of her father, a jewelry designer who never had the opportunity to go to college. The recipients of the Edward R. Weiner Arts Scholarship will be announced on June 9 during the Culminating Celebration of the Spring 2008 Career Development Program at Con Edison. The application process is open to graduating high school seniors that have completed or will complete the Career Development Program by June 2008. The application requirements include the following:
