CAE Parent Voices: A Forum for Parents! The Center for Arts Education has always believed that voice of parents and parent involvement in schools is essential to a child’s educational success. We have heard your voices, concerns and ideas about providing New York City public school students with a well rounded education that includes the arts. In response we proudly announce Arts Smart Parent Voice, the latest addition to our ongoing parent engagement offerings. A quarterly e-newsletter will complement a fuller parent resource section of our website - this forum - and help us continue to serve NYC public school parents as a resource for arts education issues. The Parent Forum is designed to help you connect with one another through shared stories and ideas about arts education at school and at home. Together we can build a brighter future for New York City public school students by making the arts part of every child’s education. Subscribe to the newsletter today! Question of the Month: What Is An Arts Smart Parent?Arts Smart Parents believe every child deserves a well rounded education that includes the arts. Z, mother of 8 in Brooklyn, told CAE: “An art smart parent doesn’t necessarily have to be a great artist or musician, but needs to be aware that our children deserve and are required to have art programs during the school day. It also means that we as our children’s greatest role models and teachers have to support and advocate for these programs when they are not in our schools or are in danger of being removed.” 3 Ways you can get Arts Smart: Create: whether it’s taking pictures, creating a photo album, a recipe, or a flower arrangement imagination is hard at work. Pass on your appreciation of creativity to your children. Display: be proud of what your family creates! Display art on the walls or encourage your child to put on a show for family and friends. Attend the FREE arts education events listed below and have even more to show off.
