At a very young age, I found that I had some artistic talent, so my parents sent me to classes. Then in high school, I entered a contest sponsored by Macy’s to illustrate Lord Byron’s poem “The Prisoner of Chillon.” I ended up winning a scholarship for it and went on to write and illustrate a sports column for the University of Pennsylvania’s Daily Pennsylvanian newspaper — the circulation was fifty or sixty thousand! Because I was exposed to the arts as a child, I’ve always valued my ability to draw even if I’m just sitting on the phone doodling. My penchant for art and design has also helped me in my business, and throughout the year I draw a birthday card for each of my employees – all 200 of them.
