A Decade of Progress, CAE’s 10 Year Report

The Cover of the Ten Year Report

In fall 2007, CAE celebrated its 10th anniversary with A Decade of Progress, the most comprehensive history of arts education in New York City public schools ever compiled.

What began as a 10 Year Report on the history and impact of CAE evolved into an important chronicle of the movement to restore arts education in our public schools and the many players, initiatives, policies, changes and events involved in that immense undertaking. The book and companion DVD narrated by award-winning actor, playwright and former teaching artist Anna Deavere Smith offer compelling stories told by educators, parents, and the architects behind the movement to restore arts education in our public schools. It also features segments with Mayor Michael Bloomberg, School’s Chancellor Joel Klein, and UFT President Randi Weingarten about the importance of and need for arts education in schools and the community.
