Haifa Bint-Kadi

Haifa Bint-KadiI’m a first-generation American with over 14 years experience implementing residencies which make meaningful & authentic connections between art and non-art subjects. My passion for ecology, science, literature and history are often evident in the multiple art forms I work with, like encaustic painting, bookmaking, mixed media, assemblage, sculpture, narrative figures and Japanese Washi and Wabi-Sabi which use found objects to create art.

I hold an M.F.A. from Istituto d'Arte per il mosaico in Ravenna, Italy. I’ve been designing and fabricating public art mosaics since 1997 and recently completed the construction and installation of a sculpture park for the State of New York at Suny Oneonta. I have created over 75 public art mosaics with students in New York public schools throughout the five boroughs and Westchester County.

In addition to being a master teaching artist, I also instruct professional development workshops for educators and teaching artists for the D.O.E., Westchester and Putnam Counties, Clifton and Huntington S.D.’s, and for the Hudson River Museum. I revel in a challenge and love working with young artists in my position as an adjunct at Manhattanville College.
