John Belia

John BeliaBorn in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and schooled in Brooklyn, John Bellia studied Harmony and Composition, Choir Direction and Modern Recording Techniques at the ‘Buenos Aires Conservatory of Music’; and Musical Therapy, Teaching Techniques for Children and Adults, and Audio Perception at the ‘Univeridad del Salvador’ (Buenos Aires).

In 1995 he composed and produced music and songs for a children’s TV show ('Tardes de Sol'), and received an award for ‘Best Children's CD’ by A.C.E. (Association of Show Business Reporters of Argentina). He was then commissioned by the Municipal Government of the City of Buenos Aires to compose original music for a series of elementary school musical plays, and a hymn for public kindergartens; this hymn, 'Este Es Mi Lugar' (This Is My Place) is currently sung at every kindergarten event and official act by students, parents and teachers.

For the past 18 years, John has dedicated much of his time and expertise to teaching. He is currently a Teaching Artist at several public schools in New York and New Jersey (K-12), teaching Percussion With Found Objects, Song Writing, GarageBand (composition with computer), Guitar, Music Recording and Production, Music Appreciation, and Filmmaking.

John also has many years of experience teaching Professional Development classes on all his workshops, as well as seminars and clinics on Music for Cinema, MIDI, Sampling, Sound Editing and Modern Recording Techniques.
