Nancy J. Schneider

NANCY J. SCHNEIDERNancy J. Schneider photographer and mixed-media artist, is a visual arts teaching artist for Lincoln Center Institute, and has been in this position since 2008. Nancy is also a teaching artist with the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Long Island and Marquis Studios in Brooklyn.

Nancy uses art as a way towards understanding Nature- both of the outer and the inner/personal worlds. Recent exhibitions include showings in Bellingham, WA, NYC, Baltimore, MD and Goiania, Brazil. She was invited as a panelist at the Interdisciplinary Congress for the Research of the Imagination in Recife, Brazil. In 2004, Ms. Schneider received an Individual Artist Grant from The Puffin Foundation Ltd. to begin her project of photographing wild(erness) areas throughout all boroughs of NYC.

Nancy received a Master's degree in Studio Art/Photography from NYU and the Int'l Center of Photography, a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Art Education from the School of Visual Arts and a BFA from Alfred University. In 1999 she completed her NYS certification as an art teacher and has extensive teaching experience in both the public and private sector throughout NYC and Long Island as well as various venues within the United States and in Brazil.

Travels throughout Asia, Central, North and South America as well as studies in Shamanism and Energy Medicine, spending time with the natural world and long distance walking are serious interests of Nancy which greatly influence her art and teaching.
